Getting ready for Christmas

So we finally got the tree decorated. We had it up for a few days before we had a chance to decorate it. The boys love decorating it and I try so hard not to redo what they have done. Sounds so bad. But we always get clusters of ornaments. They actually did tons better this year. It took a week before I even finished the decorations. I couldn't get in the mood for some reason. But now that it is done
I love it. This is one of my favorite times of the
year. I love all the decorations and lights. They
boys and I always for a drive around for an hour
or two and look at the lights. What a fun time.
What a weird winter we have had. I was walking
home from taking Ryan to the bus stop the other morning and noticed that there are still some roses blooming. Yesterday was beautiful and I went outside and trimmed, or as Matt would say, butchered the bushes. I noticed on a rose bush that we had cute little rose buds. It is December and still getting roses. Maybe that is why it was hard to get in the mood to decorate. It doesn't feel like Christmas time. It is always fun to get a bit of snow. We got some last year, but I don't think we will get some this year. Plus when we do get some here the schools close down and there is only an inch on snow on the ground. It is crazy. But it is nice not to have to worry about driving on ice. Always hated that. I can't count how many times I ended up in the gutter. Wait that makes it sound like I was a horrible driver. hmmm. But luckily dad always left after us to go to work and we knew that within 5 minutes he would be there to pull us out. Maybe that was why he left after us!

My three strange boys!

So I have three strange boys. I was trying to get a picture of each boy and anymore it is so hard to get a good picture. Then Matt and that hat. It actually belongs to his dad. But several years ago it somehow ended up at our house. He wore it on the way to his parents house.
Thank goodness we went the back way and saw very little
traffic. But then I heard him say that he has worn it to work. Man I hope he was just joking. So it has been awhile so let me see if I can remember what has happened. We had a great Thanksgiving this year. We went to his parents house as we do each year. We didn't have as many people there this year and there was so much food left over. So we all got to take leftovers home for the next day. No complaining from anyone. We stayed until about 8 and headed home. The next day we just hung out and did nothing. That night my brother in law Terry and his friend Mike stayed with us. Terry's son Brandon plays for the Ducks. Saturday was the big Civil War game between the Ducks and the Beavers. So they came for the big game. Matt was wanting the Beavers to win and I was wanting the Ducks to win. And Ducks kicked some booty! 65 to 38. Not even half time Matt got up and went to play his computer! It was great. Even got to see Brandon on TV. Ryan thought that was pretty cool. Somebody he knew was on TV!!! Brett still didn't quite get it. It was a great game to watch. Then Sunday I did nothing. I started and finished a book. Picked up the house and then watched a couple shows and went to bed. This morning I started getting the decorations out. We got the tree up and a few things here and there. In our old house we had great places to put things and great places to put lights, here in this house there isn't as many places to put things. So I always take forever to figure out where to put things. Hopefully it will get done before Christmas. Me and decorating don't do well together. Maybe I will take some pictures tomorrow of the boys helping with the tree. I have been so horrible with taking pictures lately.

Twilight, Loved it!

Ok so here I go finally posting. It has been crazy the last three weeks or so. Brett got sick and then Ryan got sick and then Brett got sick once again. So needless to say I got no sleep. But finally the got better and Ryan went back to school! Then finally after such a long wait, it was time to see Twilight. I had been waiting for this since I had found out that they were making a movie. I got to go to the midnight showing with one of my best friends Jenny. When

she went to pick up our tickets, the guy let her know that it was sold out and it would be wise to get there at least 2 hours early. He also said that others said they were going to be there at 7 to start lining up. So at 6:30 her and I went out to dinner. She wore her Edward Cullen shirt. While we were at dinner she had me take her picture and make sure we got the full shirt. After it was around 7:30 and I knew I was going to need some caffeine so we ran to 7 11 and I got a Code red. I figured that would keep me up. Then we got to the theater and we were the 4th and 5th in line. So we knew we were going to to get the seats we wanted. about 10 minutes later another 4 people showed up and that was it for the crazy people who got there so early. Jenny and I played Phase 10 and chatted. That was fun. It had been over a year since her and I had gotten together with no children. About 9 or so more people started so show. And when it came time for the movie to start the theater was full of 400 hundred people, most were women, few men and even a few young grade school girls, which I don't agree with but that is just me. I didn't go into the movie with high expectations and I think that is why I loved it so much. I had read and watched a lot of interviews so I knew there were things in movie that they added or changed. I knew that they were not going to be able to put everything in the movie, but I feel like they did a great job. I laughed more than I expected and I didn't cry, although I wanted to a a few parts! But overall I think the main thing they got right was Robert and Kristen. They had incredible chemistry which, for me, the main part of this series. So overall I was very pleased. We got home about 2:30ish and I couldn't go to sleep until 3. I then had to get up and get ready and get Ryan to school, so I was going on about 3 1/2 hours of sleep, but it was so worth it. Then I was lucky enough to go Friday night with another one of my best friends Denise. We left at 5:30 cause I was told that it was sold out also. But we only got there about 1 hour before the movie started. That was a lot of fun also. I hadn't seen Denise for quite some time and I really enjoyed the time we spent together. Also I liked the movie even more the 2nd time around and I would go again.! Kinda sad I know.

A Shelli Challenge

So I was reading Shelli Gardner's blog, she is the co-founder and CEO of Stampin Up, and I saw this challenge and decided I would try it out. I have never submitted any of my work to Stampin Up, just send a picture to friends or family. But I decided to be brave and submit a card finally. I love Thanksgiving time. I love getting together with family and of course the yummy food! As much as I love it, it can also be kinda sad. All my family lives in Idaho so I don't get to see them on Thanksgiving very often. I have lived in Oregon since Sept. 1993 and I think my husband and I were able to make it there for one and then I had my family here one year, but that was not a fun year. My mom was really sick when she was here and got admitted to the hospital. They flew her to SLC and several days later we found out she had Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. She was in the hospital for Thanksgiving day. Not fun at all. But I love my in laws so much and enjoy the time we get to spend together with them and the rest of the family we don't see very often. And I am very thankful to have them in my life.
This card was a lot of fun to make. I used all Stampin Up punches. I have to say I am addicted to their punches!! Since the card is a 4.25 x 4.25 size card I made an envelope to fit it. I found the envelope directions at Stampin' Academy. Love the site. Well off to submit before I chicken out!

For this card I used: Scallop Circle punch, 1 3/8 Circle punch, 3/4 Circle punch, 1/4 circle punch, and Boho Blossoms punch. Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Old Olive, More Mustard, Really Rust, Creamy Caramel, Chocolate Chip and Pumpkin Pie and retired Fall Flowers Designer Paper. I sponged around each punch with matching ink. Old Olive, More Mustard, Really Rust, Creamy Caramel, Chocolate Chip, Pumpkin Pie to add a little dimension and then Black Stazon, Basic Black Stampin Up writer for the eyes. Stamps: Pictograms

So I figured I better get a picture of Ryan's chin before we get the stitches out! We went in tonight and had them removed. 4 people told him it won't hurt. He didn't believe any of us. And he was right. He had a big scab that was pulling and then they said he healed pretty fast and so the stitches were stuck in there. She really struggled getting them out. In fact once it was hurting pretty good and he was shaking his fist and almost punched her. oops. But we got them out. Poor kid. I just hope he doesn't have to go through this again. But he survived and is excited cause he doesn't have to be so careful to not get them wet. And I think he feels like he can be a bit more like himself again.
